WPR Pint-Sized Concert (Ignite Ensemble)
WPR is partnering with local musicians to bring live classical music to local breweries this spring. Join us for an afternoon of classical favorites, pop covers and craft brews. We’ll be at The Brewing Projekt with Ignite Ensemble on Saturday, May 18th. Grab a friend and spend the afternoon supporting local music, local radio and local breweries!
The newly formed Ignite Ensemble, based in the Twin Cities, formed with one mission in mind: to ignitea flame in their audiences. From inspiring youth with classroom performances in public schools to showing up in places classical music can’t typically be found, Ignite engages with audiences by performing music that is relevant to modern listeners.

Bloomington Symphony Orchestra - "Transcendent Mahler"
Manny Laureano and the 75-member Bloomington Symphony Orchestra promised we would return to Orchestra Hall after our wildly successful full-concert debut in April 2023. We are delivering on that promise in grand style, as we perform the “Resurrection” Symphony of Gustav Mahler, No. 2 in C Minor. This symphony serves to mourn and rejoice, as Mahler buries the hero of his “Titan” Symphony No. 1 and raises him from the dead.
The BSO will take the stage with singers from the Angelica Encore Choral Ensemble, the Normandale Concert Choir, and the Twin Cities Catholic Chorale. The BSO will also share the stage with vocal soloists Ilah Raleigh and Sofia Ardalan, who provide the text. Keen listeners will remember the final six minutes from this symphony, which are used in the recent biopic about composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein.
